Week Six

Week six brought Brad's first business trip...luckily, we also had a visit from Aunt Carolyn. Jackson enjoyed it as she took him for a run every morning - more exercise than he has had in a while. She also took Spencer on lots of walks throughout the neighborhood. Thank-you to Aunt Carolyn for a wonderful visit! Aunt Carolyn was able to get lots of quality Spencer time - she even babysat while I went to get my first haircut since Spencer was born. I even had time to get a latte afterwards...heaven! Thank-you again for an amazing visit!

Brad's birthday was Friday and to celebrate we went to Cannon Beach for the weekend. Spencer's first overnight trip! Our room had a fire-place and floor to ceiling windows across one wall. We had a wonderful time watching the storms roll in over the ocean all weekend. This picture was taken from our balcony. Spencer slept a ton and Brad managed to beat me at Monopoly...wild weekend! ;)

Week Five

Spencer is taking an amazing three hour nap...giving me time to update the Blog! Lots to report from week five. In week five, we decided to try to give Spencer his first bottle. After I mastered the breast pump (yikes), Brad was ready to feed the little guy. Like I have said, Spencer is a champion eater and he took the bottle immediately! Brad has been able to feed the little guy a few times...which gives me a much needed break. We have started to get serious about tummy time and Spencer is now holding up his head by pushing up with his arms.

Spencer took his first Max ride in week five. Brad and I dressed him a little too warmly, so there was a baby meltdown in the middle of the train. OOPS! Another learning experience for Mom and Dad...

We had a wonderful visit from Cinnamon in week five! So wonderful to see her (can't believe I didn't take any pictures)!

Week Four

Yikes - week 5 was a very high maintenance week, so I am just now writing the blog for week 4! Lots of fun stuff happening in week 4. Spencer is becoming much more aware of his surroundings and we are finding fun ways to "play" with him. One game he has discovered is "imitation" - if Brad stands above him and sticks out his tongue, Spencer will imitate him by sticking out his tongue. Or, at least that is what Mom and Dad think! It could be an accident, but it sure keeps us entertained!
We are also beginning to see glimpses of smiles...one smile makes getting up at 3:30 am worth it! Lastly, Spencer has discovered his mirror and loves to spend time looking at himself.

Week four is also the week of baby acne! Yikes - what happened to my baby's beautiful skin? He looks like a 16 year old with a REALLY bad case of acne. Do they make baby ProActive?? ;) Not a lot of close up pictures this week... ;)

We took Spencer on his first mini-road trip last weekend. We drove from Portland to Hood River along a historic scenic highway that takes you past numerous waterfalls. He slept the entire time, but Brad and I sure enjoyed the scenery!

Stay tuned for the week 5 update...

Week 3 - 1st Superbowl!

Wow - week three has passed! I am getting to the point where I don't remember what we did before little Spencer arrived (Oh yea, sleep...I remember now)! Spencer's third week included a visit from Uncle Josh and his first Superbowl party!

Brad and I must be slacking on the pictures, as we didn't take a single one of Spencer and his Uncle Josh. Don't worry - we will make up for it the next time we see him. Josh drove down from Moscow on Saturday to attend a Career Fair at the Lewis and Clark law school. How lucky for us! We had a wonderful visit with Josh on Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday, Brad and I hosted a Superbowl party. We invited all of our fun neighbors and stocked up on great Superbowl food (the best part of a Superbowl party). We were nervous of how little Spencer would do - but, realized we had to rejoin the real world at some point! Spencer did just great - he slept in his swing for the first half of the game (even with all of the loud cheering) and was content to be passed from neighbor to neighbor for the second half. As you can see from the pictures, we were decked out in Colt's gear - thank-you Grandpa Bob and Grandma Sandi! GO COLTS!

Milestones for this week - I swear he is starting to smile more! I know people say it is just gas...but, I have decided to believe they are smiles! I will try to get some pictures for next week. The little man is getting bigger and bigger...he has already grown out of so many of his clothes! We are definitely wearing the 3 month stuff now. Falling asleep at night is still a bit of a struggle - but, once we get him to fall asleep, he stays asleep for five hours at a time. Spencer and I are venturing out on our own more and more...the Mei Tai baby carrier makes it easy to tote him around!

I hope everyone is doing well! We are loving all of the visitors and are excited to see more in the next few months!
