Chunky Monkey - First wellness visit!

Well, apparently little Spencer has been eating very well. We went for our two week wellness visit and he now weighs 9 lbs. 5 oz! He has also grown in height to 21 1/4 inches long. What a little chunky monkey! ;) Brad and I are very happy as it means he is a healthy little guy...

Spencer and I are much more mobile as I purchased a front carrier and can now tote him around the house while I clean up, make dinner, etc. What a great product! I will post more pictures soon!

Week Two

Wow - has it really only been two weeks?? It seems like so much longer! Little Spencer is starting to get his parents trained and we are feeling more confident daily. Although, we still have much to learn.

Well, we are finally on our own. After Meemaw Becky left, Grandma Roxanne arrived to take over a second week of doing all of our cooking, cleaning, laundry, baby comforting etc.. What a life-saver the two Grandma's were! Brad and I really think that we could not have survived without their help. It was so wonderful to have them both here.

Milestones on this week - hmmm, not much to report - still not potty trained ;) His little umbilical cord stump fell off (ick) and we gave him his first real bath! He didn't much care for the first one, but loved the one we gave him tonight. His Great-Aunt Carolyn sent some baby massage oil, so we tried it and he loved it! Brad called it his "spa night" and warned him not to get use to it. :)

Little Spencer got to meet his Aunt Heather and Uncle Gabe on Friday. They flew out for the day just to meet the little guy! It was a wonderful visit. Spencer showed off by behaving wonderfully...trust me, the next day was a different story! ;)

Spencer also got to meet Grandpa Paul and Grandma Gaye who came down from Yakima for Saturday and Sunday. I was a little under the weather, but they had a nice visit with their new Grandson.

I will post again tomorrow with an update on the little guys first well visit with the Pediatrician.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Jackson and Spencer

Hello from the world of new parenthood! A few of you have asked how Jackson is doing with the new addition. When we initially brought Spencer home, we let Jackson sniff his blanket first and then eventually sniff the baby. Since that time, Jackson has decided that it is his job to protect this new "puppy" in the family. Rather than follow Brad around the house, he has taken to following Spencer. He even gets up in the middle of the night to sit at my feet while I am feeding Spencer. So far, he has been a great protector and big brother!

Week 1 - We survived!

Wow - what a week for both Spencer and his parents! We feel more confident with our abilities every day. Once he falls asleep at night, we are getting four to five hours of sleep at a time - which we feel is fantastic! The difficult part is getting him to actually fall asleep. :) We are in "trial and error" mode at this point. ;)

"Firsts" for Spencer this week include a few outings, a walk to the park and a bath at home. He has also "christened" his parents more than once. ;) I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Day Three!

Wow - only one day home and already we have learned so much! The first thing being that we have lots to learn. Lesson #1 for Brad and I - take all the "rules" we set for ourselves and throw them out the window! So far, this has included "we will not give our baby a pacifier" and "Spencer will never sleep in our bed". Yea right! The first time he fussed and the nurse offered a pacifier - we caved! And, he loves it. As far as not sleeping in the same bed...well, at three in the morning when you can't get him to sleep anywhere else...the logic for that rule no longer exists. ;)

I hope everyone is doing well! We are extremely well cared for with Meemaw Becky here doing all of the cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. She has also taken a few nights shifts so that Mom and Dad can get some sleep. Lastly she offers so much support and doesn't laugh when we ask silly questions! Thank God for grandmas.... When Meemaw Becky leaves, we will have Grandma Roxanne to take over. Like I said...we are very well cared for!

Thank-you to everyone for your well wishes and support!

Nothing to report...

Good-morning all! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Little Spencer is still not making a move. It is supposed to be a beautiful, sunny, cold day in Portland so we will probably spend it showing Becky the sights of our town.

We will continue to keep you posted!

Dr. appointment update

OK - here is the update from our Dr. appointment this morning. As stated before, Spencer is quite happy where he is and is showing no signs of coming anytime soon. Our Dr. performed a procedure today that generally stimulates labor about 30% to 50% of the time.

However, in case this procedure does not work, with the help of our Dr. we have devised a plan. We have an appointment next Tuesday for an ultra-sound and stress test. This is to make sure that he is still doing OK. On Thursday, we will go in for another appointment to see how I am progressing. If we have still not gone into natural labor by next Friday, we will go in to be induced. So - no matter what, this little guy will come out no later than next Friday.

Stay tuned!

Nothing to report!

Good morning all! I didn't get my snowy day yesterday, but we did get about 1/2 an inch last night. Very pretty to see the snow fall again. Little Spencer is still staying put. We have a Dr. appointment at 9:45 today and I will post again to let everyone know the update.

Thank-you so much for all of the great comments!

Awaiting Spencer's Arrival!

Good-morning all! Brad and I would like to use this page as a place you can go for Spencer's arrival updates. I will update it daily...so, if you don't see anything on this site by late morning Portland time you can guess that we are probably in the hospital and you will hear from us soon!
